Chiller is not pumping water after filter change/initial setup

When your ice bath has been drained or left disconnected from water for an extended period, air can get into the system and cause an airlock in the chiller. This prevents the pump from pulling water through properly.

How to Fix It:

  1. Reconnect Everything:
    • Make sure all hoses are connected securely.
    • Open all valves to allow water to flow freely through the system.
  2. Turn on the Chiller:
    • Power up the chiller. You’ll hear the pump start trying to pull water.
    • If there's an airlock, you might hear the pump running but no water will circulate.
  3. Bleed the Airlock:
    • Slowly loosen the main filter housing or hair filter housing (whichever is accessible).
    • You should see water begin to fill the filter housing as the air escapes.
  4. Watch for Water Flow:
    • Once you see water entering the filter housing or escaping from the loosened housing, the pump is starting to draw properly.
    • This means the airlock is clearing and the system is priming itself.
  5. Seal It Up:
    • As soon as water is flowing steadily or begins to leak from the filter lid, tighten the housing back up to stop the leak.

• • At this point, the chiller should now be able to circulate water as normal.
