Contrast therapy is the practice of alternating between heat and cold, usually a sauna session followed by a cold plunge. The heat helps the body relax and encourages blood flow, and the cold gives a sharp, refreshing reset.

People use it to help with recovery after training, to unwind at the end of the day and to feel more alert and energised.

Most people start with the sauna and finish with the ice bath, then repeat for a few rounds. A common routine is 10 to 20 minutes of heat followed by 1 to 3 minutes of cold, with a short rest in between.

Start gently, listen to your body and build up over time. If you are pregnant or have a heart or other medical condition, check with your doctor before starting hot and cold therapy.

Both types work well, so it comes down to the heat you prefer. A traditional sauna gives a hotter, classic Finnish style session where you can pour water on the stones for steam. A full spectrum infrared sauna runs at a lower temperature and warms the body directly, which some people find easier for longer sessions.

The 1HP chiller cools the water down to 3°C and holds it there, so there is no ice to buy or top up. It also heats up to 42°C, and you can set the temperature and schedules from the touchscreen or the app.

For the ice bath, allow a footprint of 2.5m wide x 1m deep, with 30cm of clear space behind the chiller exhaust fan in a well ventilated spot. It can go indoors or in a covered outdoor area, on a flat, level surface that can carry the weight once filled.

Sauna sizes vary by model, starting from 100cm wide x 100cm deep for the 1 Person Traditional Sauna. You will find the exact dimensions in the specifications on each sauna page.

The ice bath plugs into a standard Australian power outlet (10 amp, 240V).

Our saunas need a dedicated circuit installed by a licensed electrician, and the size of that circuit depends on the model. Each sauna page lists its power requirements in the specifications. The cost of the electrical work depends on your switchboard and how far the cable has to run, so it is worth getting a quote from a local electrician before you order.

That is up to you. Each product has its own lead time, so one may be in stock or arrive before the other. You can have whichever is ready first delivered straight away, or we can hold your order and send the sauna and ice bath together. Just let our team know which you prefer when you order.

The ice bath takes two people around 5 to 15 minutes. Connect the two hoses between the bath and the chiller, fill it up and switch it on. No plumbing is required.

Our saunas arrive flat-packed and are designed for DIY assembly by two people, with a licensed electrician completing the electrical connection. Assembly time depends on the model.
